Improvements in the User Interface

There are numerous improvements to the Graphical User Interface. The most significant of these are:

Menu's - the menu's at the top of the window now contain icon's that match with those on the toolbars.

Insert dialog - The insert dialog now separates objects into categories helping to quickly find the relevant objects.

Find - The find dialog has had a number of changes including a new option to search from within the current selection. Also buttons have been added to select and deselect all found objects, and a choice can be made to find only objects which are not up to date.

Tree Menu Operations - a list of operations can now be displayed from an objects context menu without opening another dialog.

Units - Can change which units to display for a variable from its tree menu

Macros - Under tool->macros is now a list of standard and user defined macros

Pause - Paramarine now has the ability to pause its automatic calculations whilst a user modifies multiple values. The pause button can be toggled on and off. When changes are made in pause mode which would normally force an object to recalculate (PAUSED) will be displayed in the tree pane. Once pause is turned off these objects will begin recalculation as normal.

Units - There is now a currency symbol unit, which includes £, $, € and ¥, as well as various currency unit categories such as currency/time, currency/area etc.

Paste Special copy of - a new item has been added to the paste special menu that allows an object to be copied and keep its link with the original, so that as one is changed the other is updated.

Move Up/Down shortcuts - Ctrl-Alt and Up/Down can be used as shortcuts to move selected objects in the tree pane.

Graphics Pane cursor - The mouse cursor when working on the graphics pane now displays an icon showing which activity is currently being performed such as zooming, panning, or rotating.

 

Improvements in Object Behaviour

The behaviour of the following objects has been improved. Changes in the structure of objects are automatically incorporated when opening design files saved in previous versions of Paramarine

 

General Enhancements

Structures - Using the new stiffener objects, it is now possible to move the end points of the stiffeners to allow them to coincide with stiffeners on adjacent panels. This allows you to create shell longitudinals that run the length of the hull regardless of panel size or compartment subdivision. 

RCS - It is now possible to export an AVI movie file from the rcs object.

User Defined Tables - Using the new input tables users can now define their own set of data and link these to graph series.

Surface from face operation - A new operation allows the creation of a surface from a face. If this face has not been generated from a sheet or a solid body a planar surface will be created.

 

Powering Enhancements

Along with the new set of Endurance objects, powering has also a number of new effective powering methods.

High speed transom forms - This powering method allows for smaller vessels

ISOK - This new powering method allows for use of model test data.

Submarine Powering From Geometry - Can now input values directly without geometry.

 

Early Stage Design Enhancements

Building Blocks - Can now define complex geometry in a similar fashion to equipment.

Buoyant / Freeflood Characteristcs - Can now specify these characteristics to be defined by location or block solid.

Weight Characteristics - Weight characteristics can now use more information from the solid such as volume, deck area, length and breadth etc.

User defined Characteristics - Units can now be specified for user defined characteristics.

Deck drawings - The deck sorter used for drawing decks can now be specified to also pick up location geometries.

Clash detection - Clash detection has been improved to show distance overlapped.
