Licensing is via a hardware dongle. This will normally be one that plugs into the parallel port of the PC. However, a USB dongle is available as an alternative on request.

If you are using an existing PC then users would benefit from using the fastest machine they have available.

For superior performance, the following hardware upgrades should be considered:

  • OpenGL graphics cards such as the 3dfx Wildcat and the FireGL range. These give better hardware acceleration than the GeForce cards detailed above resulting in smoother moving visuals and rendering.
  • Dual processor systems will continue to be usable during periods of complex recalculation due to the spare CPU resource. The additonal CPU may also be used by the solids modelling engine.
  • For larger models, additional memory is beneficial.
  • GRC Software is supplied on CDROM. There are no current plans to provide software on DVDs.

GRC Ltd are happy to quote for the supply of a standard turnkey system suitable for Paramarine. We are also happy to quote for turnkey systems based around PCs that meet a higher specification where users have a particular requirement.
